Grandkid Challenge

Last night was awesome.

It was a party at the Zornes home as we all gathered for their setting apart blessings. Let's see, including the sister missionaries currently living there, there were... thirteen people there. Plus President Alleman for the blessings, of course. It was fun watching him put more of the Zornes/Burr/Kovach puzzle together last night. He had already pieced together that the Burrs who have watched his granddaughter for 2 1/2 years are related to the Zornses whom he adores (you'd have to be brain-dead not to). Last night was the first time he got the Kovaches thrown in there. Of COURSE he knows the Kovaches. EVERYBODY knows the Kovaches. Makes it difficult for them to ditch out early on other wards' Sacrament meetings... :D

Anyway! Before setting Mom and Bob apart, President Alleman spoke to the mini-congregation for a few minutes. And here's the part I want to share with ALL the grandkids, because I'm sure it applies even to those who weren't there last night. President Alleman has challenged you with this task: to keep Grandma and Grampa's fridge filled (the outside part, I mean). Your job is to draw pictures and write letters and send lots of things for them to hang on their fridge. And the grandkids who were there committed to the challenge, so y'all are stuck with it now! You could probably draw something RIGHT NOW and have it waiting for them when they first step inside their mission apartment. :)

Then Mom and Bob got their blessings, which were beautiful and of great comfort to those of us sending them off. And then it was time to EAT. And visit! After the eating, the kids and the grown-ups switched places. The kids came in the house to watch cartoons, and the grown-ups went out back to enjoy the cooling air, the sunset, and eventually the stars. And visit more, of course. SO fun. Such a beautiful evening for it.

Last night was great.
