...was pretty darned uneventful. We slept in a bit, headed to a Denny's where we were asked our smoking/non-smoking preference for the first time in AGES (non-smoking, by the way, was about 10 feet away from the smoking section in an undivided room), and hit the road.
We got to drive through Texas hill country, which is quite lovely even now with all the trees and hills being brown. My guess is it's stunning in summer. We stopped for gas at "The Fillin' Station" which was a hoot. The pumps had to be at least 20 years old, and the loos had signs like "No gum in the pisser" and "Don't flush tolet [sic] paper Throw in trash." The station shop was directly attached to a BBQ joint. Seeing the roach in the ladies room, I don't think I'll be hunting down the restaurant any time soon.
Anyway, closer to Plano we got to drive right past the Microsoft building where Matt will be interviewing this Friday. Nice looking joint! Matt's really excited about the prospect. By the time we hit Plano, Joseph was begging to be let out of the car and Ben was doing a pretty darned impressive bounce in his seat indicative of his need for a bathroom, post haste.
Our room is GREAT, the best feature being the wall with closing door that separates the kids bedroom from ours. A whole entire wall! That's the most privacy any of us has had in over a week! Gramma and Grampa Zornes don't have long before they're hit up for babysitting. Mommy and Daddy need a BREAK. Not that our kids aren't wonderful, because they are, and they've been great little troopers on this trip. But you know how it is. It would be nice to go an hour or two - awake - without hearing "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy."
By the time we got over to Gramma and Grampa's last night, I was a complete zombie. My memories of the night are a bit hazy. I know there was food for our sake and cake and ice cream for Joseph's. Then we headed back to our room and slept in. The clock says it's 12:50 p.m., and we haven't even had breakfast yet. Guess it's time to get the day going. Ta!
