Aaaaaaaand Scene!

In a family room, a young mother looking hassled.

That's because she is.

Her three young sons have been on "High" alllllllll day long. The "baby" head-butted her (as an act of love) an hour or so earlier. The 5-year-old had a half-dozen panic attacks over sweet-and-pungent sauce touching his face during dinner. The three-year-old .... has no "off" button. Constant noise and motion, that is the 3YO. The 5YO likes riling the other two up. It's his most favoritest game. "Let's shriek and run around! For fun!"

Now it is 7:00 p.m. The magic hour. Bedtime for the two youngest. And they are all still "on." Crazy. Nuts. Hyperkinetic. The young mother makes a prediction: "I'm guessing this is one of those nights when they'll goof around in their room for a good chunk of time before going to sleep." Her loving husband agrees.

Now it is time for family prayer, and the children have elected Mommy as Pray-er. And so she begins.

"Dear Heavenly Father,
We are thankful to Thee for this day,
and for nighttime and a chance to rest our bodies.
We pray that we will all do that...."

(quiet snickering from somewhere in the room muffles rest of prayer)

Young Mother looks at Loving Husband. "What? We're always told to be honest in our communications with the Lord, right?"

Loving Husband replies without missing a beat: "And I'm sure that He heard your prayer.

"...and is mocking you."
